Chapter 16 - Pamunkey River Valley
In 1736, Patrick Henry, “the Voice of the American Revolution,” was born in the broad and fertile Pamunkey River Valley, eighteen miles northeast of Richmond. In 1844, Edmund Ruffin, one of the more ardent voices for a Second American Revolution, moved to the valley and started making a name for himself as an innovative agriculturist.
