Hezekiah clung to a branch twenty feet up in a bald cypress by the river in the early evening and heard huzzahs over on “Malvern Hill.”
It wasn’t the real Malvern Hill, a gem of the Richmond National Battlefield Park, but a designated hilltop at Berkeley Plantation serving as General Lee’s objective for today’s reenactment.
